This event is a bit different....
The Tech Bunker team and Adroit have invited the IoT Meetup to hold our event at the latest tech co-working space in Auckland. With Adroit already working from the Tech Bunker this is becoming a specialist IoT startup space.
We will also have a demo of using a 'Software Defined Radio' USB adapter for watching Freeview TV, listening to any other radio broadcast and monitoring LPWAN signals. All this in a USB stick costing under $30, that will operate on Windows, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi. Fun stuff to play with! Many thanks to Graham Hay for presenting SDR.
RSVP spaces for this event are limited to just 20 places, and we will include lunch/beverages for the attendance fee.

This workshop will show how to use Pycom devices with various sensors.
The workshop cost will be $25. (yes it will be NZD, I don't need anyone tell me that the Meetup is listed in CAD!!) Pycom will provide discounted devices for purchase. Please check here: https://www.pycom.io/webshop/ The workshop is intended as a warm up for the Techweek Hackathon. This will be a two day event on 13 & 14 May at GridAKL. Details will be sent out later. Taking part in this workshop will entitle you to a discount on the Hackathon price. Please RSVP to this page to show your interest. I need to lock in numbers so that devices can be ordered. Your RSVP here is NOT a commitment to purchase yet. I will send details for payment and a discount code for purchase of Pycom devices later in the week. There may be additional costs for sensors such as GPS, environmental etc. These can be $5-$25 typically. Basically anything for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc should work fine (with some software skill!)

Gyan Barik from Facilitracks will give an intro to tracking high value items in a hospital campus. An interesting case study of using consumer tags and raspberry pi for a very common building management task. http://facilitracks.com/
Also, a demonstration of the Pycom LoPy devices transmitting data between devices. This is a simple (and easy) intro to using LoRa wireless to send data remotely. The Pycom units use MicroPython code and make it very easy to prototype real world sensing systems. Look out for a workshop date in the near future to learn more. https://www.pycom.io/product/lopy/
We'll also have an update from John and Rob Hanks on our events for Techweek. This is collaboration with AR/VR Association and will be a significant event for us all. We need support and help to make this a success - please volunteer to make this an awesome experience.

To kick off 2017, we'll have a great case study from local entrepreneurs.
IoTStream is a Platform as a Service that connects devices, hosts data and creates API datastreams for application creation. IoTStream makes creating a solution faster, cheaper, simpler and reliable. iotstream.io (http://iotstream.io/)
This is an excellent examples of entrepreneurs building IoT systems and taking them to market. Your chance to hear what is involved in designing the technology and building a business.
